Though Huber is mostly known as a songwriter, this book is
comprised of his first “non-lyrical” poetry (at least in the sense of
not being written to flesh out a tune). The worthiness of the word in
his song has not gone unnoticed, and while a simple collection of
his lyrics would also hold its own, it seems natural for a book of
this nature to arise. Yet, this is not a life-long collection of works,
but instead, much like an album, is a concise representation of a
three-month period rife with potency ranging from the social to
the personal in which we see Huber experimenting with what the
word can do on its own. Never shy to scale any rung between
lofty and lowly, even a fairly compact collection as this spans the
spectrum between refined and rudimentary; severe and sentimental;
grandiose and an accessible low-brow charm--all the worlds that
collided in chaos in a year that should have been known for its
clarity-- a year where one single added ingredient found many to
be newfound laborers in the orchards of fear.
